I offer architectural design services from RIBA stage 0 (inception) to stage 7 (post completion), but how much I do is up to you. Often I am employed to produce a Concept Design, take it through the planning permission process, and produce the Technical design, ready for you to approach builders. I also offer Principal Designer services to allow you meet your obligations under the Building Safety Act.

I work one-to-one with my clients, I get to know them, to ensure that the design process is a collaborative one. I am invested in the success of every project. I carry out every stage of work, from start to completion.

Collaborative, honest, and straightforward. I’m here to guide the process, bring ideas to the table, and keep things moving. I liken the process to that of employing a mountain guide. I’ve climbed these mountains before and know the pitfalls, and the routes to success.

I offer fixed quotes for the early stages of design, from Concept Design to Planning Design and Technical Design. This ensures clients have cost confidence. During the latter stages, if required, I charge on an hourly rate. My fees are not subject to VAT though, which represents a huge saving to home owners and self builders.

My projects generally range in value from £100 k to £1 Million +, but I will consider projects of any value

They include house extensions, self build homes and housing developments, but I will consider any project
-
Yes, I have worked on many listed properties. They come with challenges with regards to extensions and alterations but have had several successful projects with listed buildings

Each project is unique, because each client, building or site is unique. I am looking for a high quality design for each project, rather than a particular “look”. It comes down to finding the most appropriate solution for any given set of constraints, opportunities, client wishes and budget, but the goal is always a building of high quality, in both aesthetic and functional terms.

I offer services from start to completion of a building project, so it that sense I can act as “Project Manager”, but this term is often meant to refer to the person arranging the construction work. During construction my role would be that of “Contract Administrator” rather than a “Project Manager”. If there is a main contractor they would manage the construction process and I would ensure they are meeting their contractural obligations rather than arranging the various stages of work and sub-contractors.
-
Whilst I am careful not to use the word “Recommend”, I am able to put you in touch with suitable contractors. I have a contact list of several companies you I have successfully worked with on previous projects, and whilst this is no guarantee of future performance it is a good indicator.

If you would like me to visit your building or site, and provide specific advice about the feasibility of the project, I’m happy to do so for a small fee, currently £95. This fee is then deducted from the next stage of work if you decide to go further. I make a charge because I need to provide impartial, professional advice, which a client can rely on. This advice might mean that the project does not go ahead, for instance if there is a low chance of receiving planning approval, or if there are other difficulties.
